Rail Group History
The Rail Group was formed in 1999 by Gina Field who brought together a small group of HAA members who had a particular interest in railway matters, either as rail users or with specialist knowledge of railway matters. From the beginning, the group had two aims: to press for a new station and to monitor rail services.
Significant improvements in our rail services have been achieved, such as the late night service from Brighton and London at weekends. ‘Fast running’ is constantly on the Group’s agenda. Regular meetings are held with Network Rail, Southern Rail and First Capital Connect when members’ views are discussed with the relevant managers.
